United welcomes its first Muslim supporters’ club

The first official Manchester United Muslim supporters’ club (MUMSC) joins our global network of over 300 supporters’ clubs, showcasing steadfast support for the Reds.

The new Muslim supporters’ club is a non-geographical union of supporters, representing and connecting fans who share in their faith across the world, further highlighting the role football can play in bringing communities together.

The foundation of the Manchester United Muslim supporter group follows growing initiatives from across the 23/24 season, including: inter-faith rooms in the north/south stands at Old Trafford, new prayer rooms at Carrington for players, staff, parents and visitors, Friday prayers led by the inter-faith employee resource group, education sessions with the academy on faith in football and the first Iftar meal held for staff and players during Ramadan at Carrington.

United is proud to inspire inclusivity both on and off the pitch and throughout the wider community, as supported by the club’s commitment to #allredallequal.

Asif Mahmud, co-founder and club secretary for the official Muslim supporters’ club, said:

“We are immensely proud and excited to collaborate with Manchester United, a club we have passionately followed through thick and thin. With millions of Muslim United fans across the globe, we believe that our supporters’ club can grow to become one of the largest and most vibrant fan communities in the world.

“There is a tremendous buzz and sense of excitement amongst our members, and we eagerly look forward to engaging with the club to further enhance the experience of our Muslim supporters. This partnership marks a significant milestone, and we are committed to fostering unity and inclusivity within the Manchester United family."

Rick McGagh, Director of Fan Engagement, said:

“We are delighted to welcome the Manchester United Muslim Supporters’ Club to our global family of official supporters' clubs. We look forward to working with them, and their members, to improve their experience and to bring more communities together.

“The growth of non-geographically based clubs like this, and Rainbow Devils, Youth, MUDSA, Armed Forces and Manchester United Women’s Supporters Club is really exciting and reflects the incredible support we have.

“I would encourage any fan who is considering joining a supporter's club to do so, or if you are thinking about starting a new one then get in touch and we can help you join the United family.”
