United and City to mark Holocaust Memorial Day
The Academies of Manchester United and Manchester City will come together on Tuesday for an important event about the Holocaust.
Holocaust Memorial Day on 27 January is for everyone to remember the millions of people who were murdered in the Holocaust, under Nazi persecution, and in the genocides which followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
In recent years, our young Reds have been learning more about the Holocaust as part of the Academy's enrichment programme, which exposes them to a variety of different projects and aids their development as well-rounded young people.

Tuesday’s event at Carrington will centre around a talk from Noemie Lopian, who is the daughter of Holocaust survivors Dr Ernst Israel Bornstein and Renee Bornstein.
Noemie lived in Germany until the age of 13 before moving to Manchester. She qualified as a GP and for the last few years has dedicated her time to educating and commemorating the Holocaust, continuing the legacy of her parents.
After the educational session, United and City’s Under-14s sides will put their kits on to play a match at Carrington, providing a fitting end to a poignant day.
