Young Manchester United defender Jack Kingdon has joined National League club Rochdale on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
The 19-year-old centre-back formed an impressive partnership with fellow Scotland youth international Louis Jackson in our Under-18s’ three trophy-winning campaign last season.
Jack’s continued development in the Under-21s — for whom he’s made 10 appearances this season — has earned him a first loan move and the chance to gain regular senior experience.
Kingdon has been around the first-team environment before, not just at United, but also as part of our innovative Pro Experience Scheme. He spent a portion of the 2022/23 season training with Altrincham, for whom he represented in the Cheshire Senior Cup.
Launched in 2021, the programme has given many players a true taste of the Football League environment. For some, it's been a crucial first stepping stone towards a formal loan move, and Kingdon is the latest in this group. Team-mate Ethan Wheatley, who joined Walsall earlier today, is another.
Rochdale currently occupy eighth position in the National League but, with several games-in-hand on the teams around them, will hope to make a charge up the table in the second half of the season as they seek promotion back to the Football League.
Congratulations on the move, Jack, and good luck at Spotland!
