  Track Record: Tavera’s $1.7 million bonus when he signed at age 16 in January 2022 was, at the time, the Orioles’ largest ever given to an international amateur free agent. He has proven to be an exciting player with five-tool potential since then, and demonstrated physical gains and maturity while walking nearly as many times (22) as he struck out (23) in the Rookie-level Florida Complex League in 2023.
  
  Scouting Report: A lean, athletic player with a projectable frame, Tavera’s swing decision improvements came amid an overall offensive jump in which his contact rates and exit velocities trended up from 2022. He walked at a plus rate in the Dominican Summer League in 2022, but the club was encouraged to see that sustain as he moved to a higher level. While Tavera didn’t consistently hit the ball at the best angles, he showed traits of a future average hitter with potentially above-average power as he continues to get physically stronger, which will help him better solidify his movements. An above-average runner with an average arm, Tavera has the traits to play an above-average center field at his peak and make an impact as a defender wherever he plays in the outfield.
  
  The Future: Tavera has significant projection, which in an Orioles system that has shown an ability to help get the most out of players, gives him everyday regular upside given his already intriguing tools. He’ll face the challenging jump out of the Rookie complex league to Low-A Delmarva in 2023.
