Keaschall lettered in both baseball and wrestling in high school and turned in a terrific freshman season with San Francisco in 2021, when he hit .320/.406/.475 and was named the West Coast Conference freshman of the year. He had another solid sophomore campaign in 2022, showed a well-rounded offensive profile and multi-positional defensive ability in the Cape Cod League and transferred to Arizona State for the 2023 season. He excelled in the Pac-12 and in 55 games slashed .353/.443/.725 with a career-best 18 home runs and just an 11% strikeout rate. That added power came with a bit more chase than he has shown in the past, as Keaschall expanded the zone at a 31% rate in 2023, but he still made plenty of contact, with just a 17% miss rate. At 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Keaschall doesn’t have huge raw power despite his home run totals. Most of his in-game power went to the pull side and he averaged just 85 mph on average in exit velocity in 2023. Keaschall has played all over the infield in the past and has looked fine at second base, third base and in the outfield. This spring he’s been the everyday second baseman for Arizona State and should provide solid, if unspectacular, defense at a number of up-the-middle positions. He’s also an above-average runner.
