Peete is a talented infielder and pitcher, though it’s his potential as a position player that’s particularly appealing to many scouts and he didn’t pitch at all during the spring with an elbow injury. One of the youngest players in the 2023 class, Peete is a loose, springy athlete with more space to fill out his lean, 6-foot-3 frame. He’s an aggressive hitter who will have to tighten his strike-zone discipline, but his hands work inside the ball in an extremely short lefthanded swing with over-the-fence power that should continue to rise as he gets stronger. A shortstop now, he likely moves to third base or the outfield in the future. His athleticism and plus arm from the left side of the infield are evident on the mound. During the 2022 summer, his fastball sat 88-93 mph and has reached 94 mph from a three-quarter slot, with the arm speed and physical projection for more velocity to come. He needs to tighten his control, but he has shown promising signs there, with good mechanics and the athleticism that should help him repeat his delivery. Peete’s best pitch is his changeup, a potential plus pitch that looks like a fastball out of his hand before diving at the plate with late tumble and fade, missing bats against lefties and righties. Peete also mixes in an upper-80s two-seamer and a mid-to-upper-70s curveball, but he leans heavily on his fastball/changeup attack. Peete is a Georgia Tech commit, but a few teams are high on his offensive ability and could be interested in him among the top three rounds.
