BA Grade: 45/High
Track Record: Pages made his bones early in his career as a defensive catcher, but took a big step forward in 2023. He technically played down a level in 2023 after spending 44 games with Triple-A Memphis in 2022. Pages hit .267/.362/.443 in 117 games with Springfield and his 16 home runs nearly equaled his total from the previous two seasons combined. Pages was added to the Cardinals 40-man roster after the season.
Scouting Report: Pages improved his contact and chase rates in 2023 which led to the best season of his career. He now shows above-average contact rates and low chase rates which point towards sustainable offensive production. Pages’ power is average currently, with average exit velocity data and consistent contact at positive launch angles. With the improvements to his approach Pages projects for fringe-average game power. After using a more traditional stance behind the plate, Pages adopted a one-knee-down catching style on the suggestion of Yankees catcher Jose Trevino. This led to more consistent framing and blocking, and paired with an above-average throwing arm and natural catching instincts, give Pages a strong defensive foundation.
The Future: Pages is a potential platoon catcher with above-average defensive ability and a chance for a league average bat.
