Your guide to the February international break
Manchester United Women’s February schedule concluded with Sunday’s victory over Crystal Palace and attentions have now turned to this month’s international fixtures for the proud Reds who have been called up by their nations.
An action-packed programme boasts matches at senior and youth levels for our first team and most senior Academy players who are currently away on duty, as well as the opportunity for several to return to Manchester with a fresh taste of winning silverware.
Ahead of the first game kicking off this evening (Wednesday), we’ve put together a guide – featuring a full fixture list at the bottom – to help you keep across it all...
90 in 20: United Women v Palace

NATIONS LEAGUE BEGINS
As many as 13 United players could be involved across the opening two rounds of 2025 UEFA Women’s Nations League fixtures this month.
Most of those Reds will hope to help reigning European champions England get their Group A3 campaign off to a successful start, with Grace Clinton, Maya Le Tissier, Ella Toone and Millie Turner all in the Lionesses squad for a trip to Portugal and a 2023 World Cup final rematch with Spain at Wembley Stadium.
Wales is another home nation well-represented in our ranks, with Academy defender Scarlett Hill joining recent first-team debutants Mared Griffiths and Safia Middleton-Patel in the Dragons’ group, which has Group A4 games against Italy and Sweden on the schedule.
In Group A2, Melvine Malard’s France host a Norway squad featuring her club mates Celin Bizet and Elisabeth Terland on Friday night, before those countries duel Iceland and Switzerland respectively in their second matches of the break.
Another potential head-to-head between Reds could follow next Tuesday (25 February) too when Scotland follow up a visit to Austria by facing the Netherlands in Group A3, affording Emma Watson – currently on loan at Everton – the chance to catch up with Dominique Janssen, who is set to arrive at Hampden Park with the away team, following their opening match at home to Germany four days earlier.
Meanwhile, Aoife Mannion has been named in ex-Aston Villa boss Carla Ward’s first Republic of Ireland squad for the Girls in Green’s League B4 encounters at home to Turkey and at Slovenia.
ELSEWHERE IN EUROPE
The Pinatar Cup, an invitational round-robin tournament returns in Spain and involves a Canada squad featuring United duo Simi Awujo and Jayde Riviere.
For the first time, the trophy will be contested between four teams from outside of the continent, with China, Chinese Taipei and Mexico also participating alongside the Canadian side in the fifth edition of the competition.
Former United boss Casey Stoney was appointed Canada head coach last month and will hope to win her first piece of silverware with the 2020 Olympic gold medallists, with her ensemble likely the favourites as the competition’s highest-ranked entrant in the FIFA global standings.
HINI’S BID FOR STATESIDE SILVERWARE
That’s not all as far as invitational tournaments go for our players in this international window, with Hinata Miyazawa’s Japan one of four teams looking to win the latest SheBelieves Cup in the United States of America.
Hini will be hoping to continue her strong recent form for United by helping Japan to arrest the stranglehold that the hosts have had on their home competition, winning seven of the nine previous iterations.
Miyazawa and co are due to play the USA at the Snapdrgaon Stadium in San Diego on the last of three match rounds, after meeting Australia in Texas and Colombia in Glendale.
YOUTH-TEAM CALL-UPS
Alongside our senior involvement, several United players are also set to represent their nations at different youth levels over the course of the coming break.
January signing Kayla Rendell and Academy graduate Jess Simpson, who joined Bristol City on loan later in the month, have both been selected for England Under-23s’ first camp of the year, the same age group at which Anna Sandberg will represent Sweden this month.
The latter could feature in an all-Scandinavian clash with Norway on Friday, while WU23 internationals at home to Germany and France await for Rendell and Simpson.
In the meantime, young defender Lucy Newell – who also secured a January loan move, to Blackburn Rovers – has been picked for England’s Under-19s, who head to Alicante for three WU19 clashes in the space of seven days, with Spain, USA and the Netherlands.
